Mid-Northumberland u3a has around thirty diverse interest groups covering a wide range of activities and new ones are always being considered. Our members tell us that these groups are at the heart of their u3a experience and are what keeps them returning year after year.
Our groups are led by the members, for the members and take place regularly, usually during the day but occasionally some groups will have meetings or social events which take place in the evenings. The group leaders co-ordinate the group's activities but the contribution of ideas from the members is greatly encouraged.
Perhaps you are considering venturing into something which is completely new to you, in which case this is your ideal opportunity. The groups are autonomous - they decide what they are for and what they do and although some groups may at first appear to be more intellectually demanding than others they are also there to entertain and inform. This is learning for pleasure!
Most of our groups' meetings take place in Longhirst Village Hall but a small number of them meet within members' homes. Our groups are free to all paid-up Mid-Northumberland u3a members and there is no restriction on how may groups you can join. However, usually a small charge may be taken at the meetings in Longhirst Village Hall to cover the cost of room hire and refreshments.
