This group enjoys poetry and welcomes members who wish to extend their current knowledge and appreciation of poetry! We meet at the home of one of our members on the first Tuesday of the month in the morning. We all contribute and we enjoy our readings and discussions over coffee and biscuits.
There is a range and variety in our activity. Over recent months this has included the choice of themes:
- The promise of Spring
- Poetry that uplifts
- Animals and birds in poetry
- The death of Benjamin Zephaniah led us to consider his poetry. One session concerned our exploration of poetry from Africa
- We shared poetry written by Douglas Dunn
- We had the good fortune to be able to invite Greg Freeman, a poet and the news and reviews editor of 'Write Out Loud' the international web-hub for participation in poetry, to come to share his poems with us.
Future activity might include the work of a particular poet or a theme. We will endeavour to identify a poet to come and join us to share their work. There might even be a visit or two! It will be the enthusiasm of our members and participation in sharing that will guide our choices.
