Politics on many levels and in many areas is in major flux at present. Thus we decided to revive a Politics Discussion Group which had previously met during the Brexit negotiations. We are calling it Tectonic Politics because plates seem to be shifting fast!
1789, 1848, 1919, 1945, 1989, 9/11 and 2008 were momentous dates when significant changes occurred. In the mid 2020's is another such date approaching? We will see.
In the sessions we will try to keep abreast of goings on, to dig a little deeper into the background and to have a good chat about it all.
We have looked at the USA, the UK and Europe in detail as well as the rise and fall of the rules based global order as established at the end of the Second World War.
In 2026 we are seeking to keep up with the doings of the Trump administration in US cities, Venezuela, Iran and more. We are also looking into some of the UK Political Parties in depth given the decline of the 2 party monopoly and the rise of Reform and the Greens.
Occasionally we have a "Question Time/Any Questions" meeting where questions asked on the last two programmes are put to the group who act as the panel and give some answers!
We try to keep the group reasonably small to allow discussion. On average we have about 25 members per session. Please contact me if you would like to come along and I will let you know the current state of play,
